Scripture: "In the sixth month, the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a town of Galilee called Nazareth, to a virgin betrothed to a man named Joseph, of the house of David, and the virgin's name was Mary" (Luke 1:26-27).
Reflection: God fulfills the promises He made throughout the Old Testament. The long awaited Messiah is coming! Not in a way we thought He would, but in a way that would save us. In His way and in His time. He chose to come into the world in a way that would unite His Divinity to our humanity and our humanity to His Divinity, and it is through this union that we are made new. Through Mary's obedience, God comes into the world. In the person of His Son, Jesus Christ, God becomes man. He doesn't send any more prophets. He doesn't send an angel to deliver us. He instead sends an angel with a message, a wonderful message - that God Himself will deliver us! The good news has arrived. It's time! God keeps His promises.
Questions: What is it that I'm waiting for in my own life? Is there any situation going on in my life right now where I could be more obedient to God's will like Mary was? What is God asking of me at this time? Is He giving me a message today? Am I willing to see things differently than I expected?
Prayer: Dear Lord, you keep your word. Almighty God, you mean what you say, and you have revealed that you love us. Help me to grow in your love. Help me to accept the promise you made to be with us forever and for always. Please send my heart the message of your unconditional love for me, and prepare my heart for your coming this Christmas. Jesus, make my life new, and give me the peace you promised your followers. Amen.
Join us again tomorrow for another spiritual reflection. May God Bless you.
